Cultural and Literary Legacy
The association has hosted eminent personalities and celebrated Bengali icons like Rabindranath Tagore, whose centenary was marked with a bust statue and cultural performances. The in-house magazine Yatri, started in 1951, continues to showcase literary excellence. Annual events celebrating Tagore’s works during Rabindra Jayanti remain a highlight.
Leadership and Community Engagement
Since its inception, the association has been guided by an executive committee comprising distinguished leaders:
First President (1925–1929): Rai Bahadur S.N. Barat.
Current President: Mr. Subrat Paul.
First Secretary: N.L. Mukherjee (1925–1932).
Current Secretary: Mr. Prakash Saha.
Under the current leadership, the association expanded its cultural, educational, and infrastructural footprint.
Continuing Legacy
Today, SBBLA serves as a vital cultural hub, preserving Bengali traditions and promoting communal harmony. From its historic foundation in 1925 to its modern developments, the association remains a testimony to the enduring spirit of Bengali culture in Jabalpur, creating a legacy that inspires future generations.
